It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Veda Lorraine Ochsner-Podbielski from Rolling Hills, California on January 25th, 2025 at the age of 97.

Veda was born on June 6, 1927 in Alpena, South Dakota to Henry and Leah Ochsner. She left her home in South Dakota after she graduated high school at age 17 and moved to Washington, D.C., where she lived and worked for the federal government until she married her husband and moved to Michigan. Veda was married for 18 years to Jack Podbielski, and then moved to California. Veda retired from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development at age 65.

Veda is survived by her children Robert Podell and Cheryl Podbielski, her grandchildren Kaitlin Podbielski, Benjamin Podell, Tamara Podell-Frazier, Johnathon Podell, and her nephews Dennis Marston and Gary Marston.

Veda was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Leah Ochsner, her sister Lilly Ochsner-Marston, and her ex-husband Jack Podbielski.

Veda always had a sparkle in her eyes, a smile on her face, and a kind and generous heart. She was loved very much by her family and will be greatly missed. Veda's final resting place will be at Yosemite, California.
