Robert Lee
Rodriguez Delgado
February 9, 1957 – June 21, 2023
Robert "Robbie" Lee Rodriguez Delgado on June 21, 2023, left this world to be with our Lord. He was surrounded by loved ones and the caring staff at Evergreen Nursing Home to the end.
Robert, born February 9, 1957, in Brawley California, the sixth child in our family of six boys and one girl. Raised by our mother alone, we all grew up very close. Although Robert never had children, he embraced his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. He enjoyed going to basketball games, cooking, which was his lifelong passion, and never missed family get-togethers, always quick to prepare a special dish for the group.
Robert picked a profession in the area he loved cooking. He enjoyed cooking and excelled in the presentation of dishes. One of our fondest memories is him teaching a couple of his nephews his special dishes which they now share with the family. Even when he couldn't cook anymore, he always asked "are you hungry?" Then he would come by with food. A tradition passed down from our mother.
Robert loved all sports but especially football and basketball. He enjoyed watching his nephews play basketball and was one of their fiercest fans. Calling the nephews with tips on what to do on the court. Robert often would stop by to bring food and reminisce about funny stories growing up. He made himself available not only for his nieces and nephews but also for his great nieces and nephews. Friends and neighborhood kids knew "Uncle Bobby" and they knew he came with treats like slushies' taught his nephews how to play dominoes.
Robert possessed a great sense of humor. He could deliver a joke like a professional comedian. There were many times he had his brother Mike and sister Carol in stitches laughing at his jokes. We're going to miss those silly times, little brother.
Robert loved the Beatles and was fascinated by mythology. One of his favorite movies was Spartacus. It was found in his DVD player after his passing. Robert had a kind heart when it came to his family. Even though he was ill himself he would travel to visit our terminally ill brother Richard, so he wouldn't be alone. Robert assumed the responsibility of caring for our mother Geraldine throughout her life, living with her until her passing. He never missed a special time to visit her's and our brothers' gravesites and he always brought their favorite flowers.
Robert was preceded in death by our mother Geraldine, brothers Patrick, Steve, and Richard. He will be lovingly remembered by all those whose lives he touched.
