Patrick Mitchell Casey
June 28, 1959 – Dec. 30, 2023

Patrick Mitchell Casey, known by family as Mitch passed away December 30th, 2023, at the young age of 64 in Fresno, CA. Born in Inglewood, CA on June 28th, 1959, to Virginia (Babb) Dorff and Lawrence Casey. He graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Fresno State University. He then received his California Education Certification in 1997 and taught English at Hoover High from 1998-2014, where he took an early retirement. He enjoyed teaching and returned to substitute for Washington Unified School District from 2017-2020. His students fondly remember him for his theme-based instruction.

Patrick was intelligent, kind, loving, passionate and genuine. He was a lover of traveling, nature, history & antiques. When guests visited, he enjoyed sharing his collection of antique art, furniture, and dishes with stories to follow. Many refer to his home as a "Museum", as pieces of history laid throughout his home.  He traveled to Mexico and Europe, fluent in Spanish but diverse in German and French as well. He spent much of his time reading, and even writing poetry in his early years. He also loved to be behind the camera capturing all the special moments during his travels and time spent with family and friends; it was a way to ensure a memory would be frozen in time for years to come. Photography was one of many hobbies he enjoyed. He was an avid genealogist researching his family history surnames of Casey, Babb, Frear, Smith, Vaughn, Modie, and Knagge. His travels included visiting family locations where he would meet new cousins and distant relatives. He knew no stranger and made many lifelong friends, took care of the elderly, was always willing to lend a listen ear and a shoulder to cry on, he enjoyed his daily walk to La Boulangerie in Fig Garden Village where he would have his breakfast or pastries with a cup of coffee. Patrick never had children of his own but held his nieces and nephew close to his heart. He loved his family and although there were miles between them, he filled his home with photos, drawings, & letters to keep him company.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents Virginia Dorff & Lawrence Casey, brothers Shane Casey & Michael Babb.

He is survived by his sister Eveline (Jean) McCombs, brother Tony Casey, Nieces Bridgette Cornelius, Virginia (JoJo) Hernandez & Victoria (Vicki) McCombs, Nephew Sheyne Casey, stepmother Carol Casey and a host of cousins and dear friends.
