March 19, 1994 – July 26, 2021
Mayra Cortez; "The Shining Star of The Sea!"
Mayra Cortez; The Shining Star of The Sea, left this earth Monday July 26, 2021 at the youngage of 27. Mayra was born March 19, 1994 in Mexico. At just a few months old, Mayra became quite ill to the point where her life was approaching a near end. Lucie, Mayra's biological mother, had very limited resourcesat the time to get medical treatment for her baby girl. In an attemptto save her daughter's life, she reached out to her close friends from America. Sergio and Juana Lopez; Mayra's soon to be adoptedparents, rushed down to Mexico as soon as they heard the news. Lucie granted parental rights and custody to Sergio and Juana in hopes of saving Mayra's life. Though Mayra's new parents Sergio and Juana faced obstacles and roadblocksthat made getting back into the United States near impossible, they eventually prevailed and got the medical care baby Mayra desperatelyneeded. The impressive fight and will to live baby Mayra had displayed, combined with the swift action of her parents would then allow Mayra to call Madera, California home with her new family.
Mayra had attended all Madera local schools and had received her high school diploma. After a few years, Mayra then went on to start her own Farm Labor Contractor business, "Fisherman of Employees," which turnedout to be a success from the beginning. This provided job opportunitiesfor many especially in Madera County, Merced County, Santa Clara County, and Monterey County.
Mayra had also completed and receivedher Nail Technician License from "Federico College," in Fresno Ca, and had hopes to open a Luxurious Nail Salon.
Mayra also had interest in eventually going back to school to become a pediatrician, as she had an endless love for helping others, especially children.
In her free time, Mayra, "The Shining Star of The Sea," enjoyed nothing more than simply being at the beach. Though she enjoyed sharing the experience with family, friends, and loved ones, she also enjoyed being at the beach by herself, even if just to tap the waves coming ashore before having to leave. Mayra had also been heavily involved with the Northpointe Community Church in Fresno, Ca. Religiouslyattending Sunday mornings and even the CelebrateRecovery's Wednesday nights. She always had an everlasting hunger to be closer to our Lord Almighty. Speaking of hunger, she was an excellent cook. Spending time with her children, family and friends, fishing, camping, quad riding, amusement park visits, night drives, road trips, mini golf, bowling, were also some of the things Marya had enjoyed. Let's not forget spending time with her one true love Fat Cat (Mikey Vaught.)
Mayra is survived by her parents, Sergio and Juana Lopez; birthmother, Lucie; siblings, Luis Martinez, Geovani Martinez, Bronda Martinez; former husband, Cirilo Cortes; children, Angie Rubi Lopez, Alice Cortez, Mirabell Faith Cortez (Faithy), Matthew Zachariah Cortes (MysteryBig Bobby); closest friend, Anita Ortega; pets, Pudgee, Panther; Biblical husband, Mikey Vaught (Fat Cat.)
