Matthew Nicholas Smith
February 17, 1993 – September 19, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Matthew Nicholas Smith, who left us far too soon on September 19, 2025, at the age of 32.
Matthew was a loving father, son, brother, grandson, and friend whose warmth and compassion touched everyone who knew him. He is survived by his beloved daughter Linnea, his parents Kimberly and Paul Smith, his sister Renae Navarro, his grandmother Brenda Sabbatini, and his grandfather Tom Smith. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Gary Sabbatini, Christine Soto, Richard Soto, and Doris Smith.
Matthew lived with deep curiosity and passion. He found joy in exploring the world around him—through hiking, traveling, and the lens of his camera—always eager to experience and capture the beauty of the world around him. A gifted photographer and lover of music, Matthew expressed himself creatively and encouraged others to do the same. He was an avid gamer and a thoughtful, loyal friend whose care for others was genuine and enduring.
Above all, Matthew's greatest love was his daughter, Linnea. He was a proud and devoted father to Linnea, and his greatest joy was watching her grow. His memory will live on in her laughter, in every song he loved, and in the beauty of the world he so deeply appreciated.
Matthew's presence in our lives was a gift, and while we grieve his absence, we find peace and comfort in knowing that Matthew is with the Lord, surrounded by eternal love and grace. Though our hearts are broken, we hold onto the promise that we will be reunited with him one day. Until then, we carry his memory with us—his laughter, his kindness, and his enduring spirit.
A private service to honor and remember Matthew will be held in December.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Matthew's memory to Linnea's college fund. You can donate to "College America-Linnea" https://venmo.com/code?user_id=2151149142540288484&created=1759457148
