FROM THE SCHOOL MESSENGER.  OBITUARY TO FOLLOW

School Messenger this evening: Good evening, Gaston families this is an important message for our community.

It is with great sadness that I call this evening to share that one of our beloved staff members, Mr. Kevin Williams passed away unexpectedly this afternoon. Mr. Williams was our head football coach, assistant basketball coach, and CTE teacher. We learned late this afternoon of his passing and are coordinating social emotional supports for tomorrow. I ask you to please join the staff and students at Gaston Middle School in keeping Mr. Williams' family in your thoughts.

I realize that this can be extremely upsetting for students, staff, parents, and the entire school community since Mr. Williams' positive impact reached beyond our school walls.

Upon learning the news, the district immediately developed a plan to deploy support staff, including school psychologists, to support students in processing this difficult news. For many, this news will take some time to sink in, so we anticipate having support services available for our students on Friday as our community grieves.

I want you to know that we are doing everything possible to help our Gaston family cope with this unexpected loss. Please contact the front office during regular school hours if you feel your child might need additional support. Thank you.
