Jay Howard Frane was born September 21, 1946 in Orange cove and was enfolded into the arms of his adoptive parents: Ralph Frane and Peggy Long along with his sister Dianne.

He attended McCord Elementary School for primary and graduated from Reedley High School. He attended Reedley college earning his Associates degree in mechanics and industrial air conditioning. He moved to LA where he worked on an unmanned spacecraft for Mars and then traveled around the world training companies on the machines they bought before settling in Fresno County to work for Pactiv Corporation for the next 20 years.

He departed this earthly realm on October 19, 2025. He is survived by his wife and partner of 36 years, Sheila Frane; his children and step children, Michael Frane, Suzanne (Frane) Rodriguez, Christopher Piaz (Doniel Piaz), James Rathbun (Regina Rathbun), Johauna Rathbun, Jaime Day (Thorin Day); His sister Dianne Frane; His grandchildren, Joshua Nichols, Cody Nichols, Emma Day, Erik Atteberry, Elyas Day; His niece Rachel Frane; and his great grandnephew Jonathan Chaidez.
